Con-Wood Resources Management Inc.

Con-Wood Resources Management Inc. in Vaughan, Ontario and Fernando Liorti, an administrator and operator at the waste processing site, were fined a total of $73,500 under the province's Environmental Protection Act (EPA). Con-Wood Resources was fined $67,500 ($7,500 for each of nine counts) under subsection 186(3) of EPA for failing to comply with condition 13 of a provisional certificate of approval by processing waste outside; failing to comply with condition 26 of the provisional certificate of approval by not ensuring the site was operated in a manner that minimized the effects of litter and dust on the environment and the public; and failing to comply with condition 12 of the provisional certificate of approval by receiving putrescible wastes. Liorti was fined $1,200 for each of five counts after pleading guilty to failing to comply with conditions 12 and 13, contrary to subsection 186(3) of EPA.
